Domestic wall lighting and a double electrical socket in a home

How we can help / 01

Indoor lighting, LEDs and outdoor security lighting

A room can feel very different with the right lighting. Whether you want a brighter kitchen, softer living-room lighting or an LED upgrade, we'll talk through the fittings and controls with you. We'll also check that lamps, drivers and dimmers work together.

Discuss where switches should be reached and whether dimming, separate zones or sensors would help. Smart lighting can add control options, but consider what happens if an app or network is unavailable and whether the people using the room still have straightforward manual controls.

Outdoor and security lighting needs equipment suited to its position and exposure. Consider neighbours, glare, cable routes and sensor coverage. Plan a light around the area you need to see rather than simply the highest output. Equipment choice, running hours and controls determine any efficiency benefit.

Sockets, switches and power where it is needed

Fed up with extension leads or sockets in the wrong places? We can add or move sockets and switches to suit your furniture and appliances. We'll check the existing circuits too, so the work takes account of what you need to power.

We'll assess how the new sockets connect to your existing installation and agree positions, finishes and cable access with you. A damaged, hot or intermittent socket needs investigation rather than cosmetic replacement alone. Do not open fittings or continue using equipment that shows signs of burning or damage.

Garden office, garage and shed electrics

Turning a garden room into an office, or need power in your garage or shed? We can plan the lighting, sockets and supply around how you'll use it. Heating, computers and tools all affect what the installation needs, along with the distance from your house.

Outdoor cabling needs an appropriate route, protection and installation method. Discuss groundworks, pathways and other buried services before work is scoped; do not assume a temporary extension lead is suitable as a permanent supply. We'll assess the circuit protection and earthing arrangements your site needs.

Plan coordination with the garden-building installer and any landscaping. Clarify who provides cable routes or groundworks and when finished surfaces will be laid. Completion should include appropriate testing and records of the installation, with building-regulations notification addressed where applicable.

Kitchens, bathrooms, showers and extractor fans

Planning a new kitchen, bathroom or electric shower? Talk to us before cabinets and tiles go in. We can work through the electrical requirements with you, checking appliance ratings, circuit capacity and where switches and isolation points need to go.

Bathrooms need careful consideration because water and electricity increase risk. Equipment selection and positioning depend on the room and the relevant installation requirements. Discuss lighting, shower controls and fan arrangements early rather than choosing fittings without checking suitability.

Extractor fan installation should consider the intended room, controls and the route for ventilation. Coordinate the electrical work with building or ducting work and clarify responsibilities. Do not assume adding a fan alone resolves every condensation or ventilation issue.

Planning the work and keeping your records

Share your postcode, the rooms involved and any plans or earlier electrical reports. We'll assess the installation during an onsite visit and prepare a quotation. Mention other trades, access restrictions and your preferred timing.

Agree the appropriate inspection, testing and certification for the work. An installation certificate documents new work; an EICR assesses an existing installation. Some domestic work also needs building-regulations notification. Keep the relevant records, controls information and equipment instructions with the property documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you combine several small electrical jobs?

Yes. Tell us everything you'd like done, from an extra socket to a lighting change. We'll assess the jobs together during an onsite visit and prepare a quotation based on the work and access needed.

Can I buy lights and smart controls myself?

You can, but talk to us before buying them. We'll help you check that the fittings, dimmers and controls are compatible and suitable for the room, and agree who supplies what.

Does every alteration need a full rewire?

No. We'll assess the wiring and protection before recommending the work. An extra socket or a lighting change doesn't automatically mean replacing the wiring throughout your home.
